Help us celebrate Halloween by participating in our Halloween Candy Guess contest. There is a jar of Halloween candy at our Marina Services Desk in the Office. Van Isle Marina invites all of our guests visiting us this Halloween season to submit your guess of how many candies are in the jar. The person who guesses the closest to the actual number wins the jar of candy. Only five guesses per person. The winner will be announced Friday October 28th, 2011.

Salt Spring Island is holding its 13th Annual Apple Festival October 2nd, 2011 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Take the boat or ferry over to Salt Spring Island and enjoy their delicious Apple Festival. All apples are grown organically and local on the island. Sample the apple pies made with 15 apple varieties and the fresh apple juice made from specific apples. Just because it’s fall doesn’t mean there still isn’t plenty to do around the islands.

Winter is closely approaching and it’s time to think about winterizing your boat for the season. Winterizing your boat is a very important process that runs from bow to transom and helps protect your boat from hull degradation and blistering, from the hull deteriorating under algae and barnacles, from your engine hoses cracking, wires corroding and your engines and tanks from water damage. Van Isle Marina’s new Yacht Park has services available to help winterize your boat whether you store it in our yacht park over the winter or put it back in its slip at our docks. Salt Spring Island Saturday Market is every Saturday starting in April through to the last Saturday in October from 8:30 am to 4 pm come rain or shine. The market is located ocean side at Centennial Park in the heart of Ganges.
This is an internationally acclaimed arts and crafts market that features some of the best potters, jewelers, fiber artists, woodworkers and fine decorative arts. The farmer vendors have delicious cheeses and organic foods for sale.

Join Greg Andrew, one of Van Isle Marina’s Yacht Brokers, at the Boats Afloat Show in Seattle, September 14-18, 2011. Greg Andrew and Emerald Pacific Yachts will be at the Riviera display at Chandler’s Cove Marina at Lake Union. Drop by and receive a tour of the Riviera vessels on display.
The Boats Afloat Show has vessels ranging from sport boats to sailboats and trawlers to mega yachts. This is a fun and entertaining event for boat enthusiasts and with such a wide selection of vessels, it is an excellent place for those looking to purchase their first boat.

Mosquito Creek Marina is holding its 5th Annual Boat Show September 22-25, 2011. This four day event highlights the very best boating has to offer and brings like-minded people together to share their enthusiasm and joys of boating. There will be dozens of marine vendors and yacht brokers along with hundreds of boats on the water for your viewing pleasure. Admission is $12 and children under 12 get in free.
The four day event include activities for both children and adults. Children can enjoy the Bouncy Castle and the Courtney Mermaid while adults partake in the Beer Garden and Food Court. Entertainment will be provided by the JRFM RoadShow Crew and live performances by Jim Foster.
