Boat Crossing Sign Made Famous

Wednesday, June 27th, 2012

With the construction of the new Yacht Park, Van Isle Marina had ‘Boat Crossing’ road signs posted on Harbour Road and Allbay Road warning drivers of the possible boats crossing from the service ramp to the Yacht Park.  These signs have now become famous through the Ellen DeGeneres Show’s facebook page.  Someone has posted this photo of the boat crossing sign and it has had over 100 facebook shares, 500+ likes, and almost 100 comments.  The comments are quite comical, but what is actually surprising is that two people  recognized the sign as being from Van Isle Marina.

The boat crossing sign can also be viewed from our Haul-out Video.

Ray has donated his $1-million yacht, Tango, to the local charity Sail and Life Training Society (S.A.L.T.S.).  The society offers sailing programs catered to youths between 13 and 25 years of age.  S.A.L.T.S. current has two vessels that can accommodate 1,700 youths  in their annual sailing programs.  Their programs are in high demand with a wait list from 70 schools from B.C. and Alberta.  Their mission is to construction a 42-metre wooden schooner so they can increase their capacity to 2,550 youths per year.

S.A.L.T.S. has listed Tango for sale through Van Isle Marina’s yacht broker Allan Mactier.  This is the second vessel Van Isle Marina has listed for S.A.L.T.S.  Last fall, the marina arranged for the donation of a 53′ Pearson sailboat and then sold it on behalf of S.A.L.T.S.
