Dine Around Victoria is Back

Dine Around & Stay In Town Victoria is back!  This is a chance for visitors and local Victorians to sample fare from a variety of different restaurants in the area.  Dine Around begins February 17th and runs through til March 16th, 2012.

Restaurants will be offering three course menus that range from $20, $30 and $40 per person.  If you are visiting Victoria, there are also a number of accommodations you can choose from as well.

Vancouver International Boat Show Feb 8-12, 2012

The Vancouver International Boat Show is from February 8th – 12th, 2012 and will be situated in two locations, the all new BC Place Stadium and Granville Island Maritime Market and Marina.

Show Hours:

  • Wednesday to Friday 11:00 am – 9:00 pm
  • Saturday 10:00 am – 7:00 pm
  • Sunday 10:00 am – 5:00 pm

There is a free shuttle that runs between BC Place and Granville Island for boat show participants.

There is lots to see at the Vancouver International Boat Show.  There will be a large variety of vessels and exhibitor displays to browse, seminars to attend, and contests to enter.

During freezing temperatures, the water is shut off on all docks.  Please follow weather forecasts and ensure your tanks are full.

Snow

In the event of a snowfall, snow will be cleared from the parking lots and docks (but not boathouses).

Slippery Docks

During the winter, always beware of ice and frost on the docks.

Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup Results

The 2011 results for the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup have now been posted.  The shoreline cleanup was a national event with people participating from the West Coast of British Columbia, to the East Coast of Prince Edward Island and up in the North with Nunavut, Northwest Territories and the Yukon all joining in to make our waters and shoreline cleaner.

2011 Results:

  • 3,144 km – distance cleaned
  • 143,737 kg – weight of litter removed

Top 5 Litter Items:

  • 351,238 – cigarette butts
  • 110,018 – food wrappers
  • 71,200 plastic bags
  • 65,220 – caps and lids
  • 39,308 – beverage bottles (plastic)

Registration for the 2012 Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup will open in the Spring.  Help keep our water and shorelines clean this year by getting your work to coordinate a site cleanup or by getting personally involved yourself.

Seattle Boat Show, Jan 27-Feb 5, 2012

The Seattle Boat Show is scheduled from January 27th to February 5th, 2012 and has two locations, CenturyLink Field and South Lake Union.  CenturyLink Field features more than 1000 recreational watercraft, seminars and boating accessory booths.  The South Lake Union location features various makes, models and lengths of boats on display for your viewing pleasure.
