Prince Charles was at the marina during his recent cross-Canada tour. On the Sunday afternoon of the tour and during his “private time”, the Prince arrived at the marina in a cavalcade of black cars. He went from here to Portland Island with Jack and Karen Stepler on “Promises Kept”. He walked across the island which at one time had been a gift from the Province to his aunt, Princess Margaret. On his return to the marina later that afternoon, Mark and Leslie had an opportunity to meet him and speak with him for about three or four minutes. There was no media, no people and minimal security. He discussed with Mark and Leslie a genuine interest in the marina, the boats and the Gulf Islands. Quite an historic occasion for the marina!!!
